NEWS

Congratulations to Adam Fagin (MFAW alum) who was accepted into the University of Denver's PhD program!

Ben Costa (MFAW alum) has launched a Kickstarter to print the second volume of his graphic novel, Pang, The Wandering Shaolin Monk Vol. 2.

Benjamin Alire Saenz's (Eleven Eleven #13 contributor) book, Everything Begins and Ends at The Kentucky Club, has been named a finalist for this year's PEN/Faulkner Award for fiction.

Mattilda B. Sycamore (Eleven Eleven #14 contributor) will be on a book tour for his latest memoir, The End of San Francisco. See below for dates and locations.


MEDIA

Kevin Killian's (MFAW faculty) Spreadeagle is reviewed by John Bavoso on Lambda Literary.

Jessica Wickens (MFAW '07) and Della Watson's new book, Everything Reused in the Sea: The Crow and Benjamin Letters, is reviewed by Erin Heath on Erin in the Bay. The characters, Crow and Benjamin, correspond by handwritten letters and postcards, poetic emails, and carefully worded tweets.

Max Delgado (MFAW '07) and friend Kevin Leslie have started The Longbox Project, "A memory project for comic geeks.  True to our passion, we rely on comic books as our inspiration and point of departure. Our goal: to create the most comprehensive anthology of collector-focused writings anywhere on the web."   


PUBLICATION

Juvenal Acosta (MFAW faculty) has a letter response in The New York Times on Yu Hua's "Stealing Books for the Poor".

Judith Serin (MFAW faculty) has a poem out in the spring issue of Catamaran Literary Reader. The founding editor is Catherine Seguson (MFAW '03), and Zack Rogow (MFAW alum) is the poetry editor.

Sarah L. Webb (MFAW alum) has two poems out in issue 11 of BRICkrhetoric.

Suzanne Barnecut (MFAW alum) has a new piece out, Bringing Up Baby In San Francisco, on the Bold Italic.

Katie Wudel (MFAW alum) has a blog about her 2013 AWP experience on MonkeyBicycle.
 
KQED Pop blog has a notable alumni writing for them: Laura Schadler (MFAW '07) on spring breakers, female directors and rereading old love letters, David Aloi (MFAW '09) on a tribute to Jason Molina, listening to music like a 19-year-old, Emmanuel Hapsis (MFAW '09) on music videos and Taylor Swift, Suzanne Barnecut (MFAW alum) dishes about New Girl.
